Easy on the Eyes
Updated: May 19
Some seniors may need house modifications due to vision issues. Painting walls a light, non-glare color and ceilings white in order to enhance a room's lighting can make a huge difference. Dull vs. waxed floors will eliminate glare (and of course are also safer). In general, the number of light fixtures in the house should be increased, especially direct lighting to make certain tasks easier. Placing direct lighting by a sink, at a workbench or in a library/den is very handy. Higher wattage bulbs should also be used, but make sure of the maximum capacity allowed for the fixture being used. Make sure that light bulbs are not visible as this creates glare and can also be dangerous to the eyes.
